Who Are
We?
CrossingBarriers
develops the leadership skills of
immigrant youth and activists to improve education and other
systems. We provide leadership development training
through community organizing and working on projects to address and
over come systemic barriers immigrants face in order to succeed in
their schools, community and achieve their goals.
We work with students, youth and community activists in
Minneapolis, St. Paul and surrounding counties in Minnesota. We
help empower them and their families who are committed to
contributing positively to the long term stability and success of
their education and community. We also address immediate issues
concerning the community through community organizing approach
which is led by the students and activists. The leadership skills
learned here have been empowering for our youth leaders and
activists. It helped them achieve their education and career goals
successfully.
The foundation and backbone of CrossingBarriers is its community
support of student volunteers and activists. Each program we have
is directed by and for the needs of the participants. They tell us
what assistance they need for advocacy and leadership development
and CrossingBarriers facilitates the process to address their
concerns.
